We started out by trying to make a Puttanesca Sauce, but the truth is that we are not sure if this qualifies or not! We leave that decision to you :) So to keep it simple, let's say this is a very very tasty pasta sauce that is made from anchovy, bacon, leek, capers and canned crushed tomatoes.
We promise you this is so delicious and easy you won't believe it, we did two batches at once and freezed halve of it for later (maybe for something like canolis!).
Ingredients:
8 oz. Bacon, chopped
1 Leek, chopped
1 Garlic Clove, chopped
12-16 Anchovy Fillets, chopped
1/4 cup Capers
1/4 cup Red Wine
2 28 oz. Canned Crushed Tomatoes
2 tbsp. Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Grounded Black Pepper
Salt to taste

Steps:
Heat a deep pot to medium-high and cook the bacon. Once golden remove it from the pot.
Add the leek and garlic and cook until soft (around 7 min). Add the anchovy, capers and red wine and cook until alcohol evaporates.
Add crushed tomatoes, brown sugar, black pepper and salt. Add around 4 oz. of water and cook on low for 1 hour.
Adjust sugar, salt and pepper to taste.
